Sell your mobile phone
As well as computers, we buy used iPhones and Android phones. Working or broken, tell us about the phone and add some photos. It needs to be complete and free of account locks before a sale. Tell us about any repairs or replaced parts: we assess them individually.
What to tell us about your mobile phone
You do not need to know everything. “I don’t know” is a fine answer in the form, and the photos fill in a lot of gaps.
Model and storage
On an iPhone, Settings, then General, then About shows the model name and capacity. On Android it is usually under Settings, then About phone.
Network
Whether the phone is unlocked or tied to a network. If you are not sure, choose “I don’t know”.
Battery health
On an iPhone, Settings, then Battery shows the battery health. Some Android phones show it under Battery or Device care. A screenshot is ideal.
Screen and body
Cracks on the front or back glass, lines, dead spots, touch problems, or a faint “ghost” image that stays on screen. Dents and scuffs on the frame are worth a mention too.
Faults
Charging problems, cameras, Face ID or fingerprint, speakers, buttons, or a phone that will not turn on or is stuck on the logo.
Working or faulty: what we may consider
These are examples of what we are happy to look at. We cannot promise an offer for every one, but a fault on its own does not rule a mobile phone out.
We may consider
- Working phones with normal signs of use.
- Cracked front or back glass.
- Batteries that drain quickly or show reduced health.
- Charging port, camera, speaker or button faults.
- Phones that will not turn on or are stuck on the logo.
- Face ID or fingerprint faults.
- Phones with an official repair, such as an Apple battery replacement, if you tell us about it.
Generally not suitable
- Repairs that were not disclosed, or poor-quality repairs such as badly fitted replacement screens. On recent iPhones, Settings, then General, then About shows a “Parts and Service History” section if parts have been replaced.
- Phones with Activation Lock (Find My) or Google account protection that you cannot remove.
- Phones reported lost or stolen, or blocked by a network.
- Missing parts, such as missing back glass or camera lenses.
- Phones you are not entitled to sell.
Photos that help
- The front with the screen on (the lock screen is fine, with notifications hidden).
- The front with the screen off, at a slight angle so scratches and cracks show.
- The back.
- All four edges of the frame.
- The camera lenses, close up.
- A screenshot of the battery health screen, if the phone works.
You do not need to show the IMEI or serial number. Turn on Do Not Disturb before photographing the screen so no messages appear.
What affects an offer
- Model and storage capacity.
- Whether it is unlocked or tied to a network.
- The condition of the screen, back glass and frame.
- Battery health.
- What the fault is, if there is one.
- Whether it is complete, any repair history, and whether it is free of account locks.
If you accept an offer
Offers are valid for seven days. If you accept and your postcode is one of the selected Manchester and nearby postcodes we collect from, we arrange collection at an agreed time, at no charge. Elsewhere in the UK, we email you written instructions for posting your mobile phone. When it arrives, we check it against your description and photos, agree the final price with you and pay by bank transfer. Read how the whole process works.
Before handover, back up your data, remove your accounts and any activation lock, and erase the mobile phone if it still works. The preparation guide has the steps.
